This plasma-effect has been done by converting and old plasma I made in flash7 to use flash8's new abilities like setPixel.

When comparing this one to the one made with flash9 you can see huge performance leap in amount of stuff on screen. It's mainly because in this version I calculate new sin&cosine -map to be drawn. Also flash9 and especially the usage of AS3 increases performance a lot.

This effect was made with AS3 using 2 arrays filled with sin&cosine -calculated maps. These maps are then drawn and moved in every frame.

The moving happens by creating a 4 times bigger map than what is needed and by changing the beginning index for the map. This way we don't have to use precious cpu power to calculate a new map in every frame.
